The full biography
A builder who refuses to fit into one box.
Adapted from Akin’s original website biography and brought into the Living Archive.
Meet Akin Akingbogun, a man who refuses to fit into a single box. He is a co-founder and Vice President of Mobility at Qoray Mobility and Energies, helping to advance Africa’s electric-mobility transition. He is also a published author, life coach and the self-proclaimed “Duke of Small Talks.” With more than two decades of experience spanning civil engineering, business leadership and social entrepreneurship, Akin is most at home where ideas must become practical systems, ventures and stories.
“What really defines Akin is his drive to create impact, whether through transforming industries, mentoring young professionals or telling stories that move people.”
Who is Akin?
Akin is a registered civil engineer with a Master’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from the University of Lagos and an MBA in Business Marketing. He is a COREN-certified engineer and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Yet his credentials tell only part of the story.
He is a strategist, innovator, mentor, writer and speaker who believes that the right mindset, disciplined execution and determination can change what is possible. His career has moved across engineering, project management, enterprise, marketing, professional services, leadership development and social impact. The thread connecting them is a curiosity about how people and systems work, and a determination to leave both better than he found them.
Leading Africa’s clean-energy transition
At Qoray Mobility and Energies Limited, Akin works on the practical challenge of making cleaner movement accessible, sustainable and commercially viable. Qoray’s work extends beyond vehicles into the wider systems that make electric mobility possible: energy infrastructure, financing, workforce development, operations and the measurement of environmental impact.
His mobility work reflects the engineer in him and the entrepreneur he has become. It requires attention to technical detail, customer realities, public policy, partnerships and the everyday economics of transport. Through Qoray and CabZero, he has helped bring together ideas about locally relevant technology, cleaner cities, dignified livelihoods and the future of movement in Africa.
Building leaders, inspiring change
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Akin runs MindVolution, a coaching and training practice dedicated to helping professionals unlock their potential. As a business-leadership and performance coach with years of mentoring experience, he has worked with individuals seeking to rethink their career performance, strengthen their confidence and grow into more intentional leaders.
His approach is thought-provoking, creative and practical. He is interested not merely in inspiration but in the habits, decisions and systems that make improvement sustainable. This carries into his work as a speaker, where his themes include leadership, innovation, social entrepreneurship, resilience and the power of combining technical expertise with human-centred thinking.
Akin has also spoken about storytelling as a tool for impact. For him, a useful story is not decoration. It can change how people understand a problem, remember an idea and decide to act.
The creative side
Akin is a prolific author whose books and shorter works move through suspense, drama, moral dilemmas and the resilience of the human spirit. His titles include the thriller novellas Prisoner of Fate and Waste of Sin, alongside the short-story collection Dreams from Yesterday. His writing sits beside a wide archive of personal stories, professional reflections, humour, history, life lessons and imaginative work.
He created the “Duke of Small Talks” persona in 2019 as a way to share his perspective with the world. The name captures an important part of his character: a belief that apparently small conversations can reveal large truths. Through his blog and the Staks Radio Talk Show, he has explored subjects ranging from business and leadership to family, failure, culture, curiosity and personal growth.
The Living Archive brings those different strands together. It preserves the engineer and the storyteller, the executive and the mentor, the public voice and the private observer, without forcing any one of them to cancel out the others.
The personal touch
Akin is a family man, married to Tolulope and a father of three. He speaks often about the influence of his parents, the importance of family values and the opportunities his upbringing made possible. Those relationships give context to his belief that ambition and responsibility should sit together.
He is equally candid about failure. Some business ventures did not work. Some investments went south. He treats those experiences as part of the education rather than as chapters to hide. That willingness to discuss mistakes, paired with a genuine interest in helping others succeed, makes his mentoring and public voice relatable.
His community interests include social entrepreneurship, service and advocacy. Whether the platform is a boardroom, workshop, stage, blog post or private mentoring conversation, the aim is consistent: help people see more clearly, think more courageously and act with greater intention.
Why invite Akin?
Akin brings together technical expertise, business acumen, creative thinking and lived experience. He can speak from the work rather than around it: building ventures, leading teams, navigating setbacks, mentoring professionals, writing stories and participating in Africa’s clean-mobility transition.
His strongest conversations sit at the intersection of electric mobility and sustainable innovation, leadership and personal development, entrepreneurship and resilience, and storytelling for impact. He engages audiences without reducing complex questions to slogans. The goal is to challenge familiar thinking, create useful connections and leave people with something they can apply.
He is not simply a speaker describing a possible future. He is a builder participating in it, a mentor helping others prepare for it and a storyteller documenting what it takes to move from intention to action.
